5 Things To While Waiting For Success To Come To You

We live in a generation of people who hate waiting. Everyone wants to be successful and appreciated in some way, but nobody wants to wait. While you’re building your way to success, it can feel like it’s merely round the corner, but the reality is that sometimes things can take a little longer than that. Waiting is a guarantee. And, although that might not seem fair, it has it perks!

So, here is a short list of the things you should be doing while waiting for success to come to you.

1)      Celebrate Your Little Wins.

Every step you take is moving you forward towards your goals. Inevitably these steps will vary in their size, but, if you have a consistently positive approach to these steps, no matter how big, you’re going to begin feeling a lot better about you current situation. Don’t expect everything to come all at once, because that won’t necessarily happen. Appreciate where you are. Pat yourself on the back for achieving every success. It’s in the consistency of these smaller steps that will attain your biggest goals.

2)      Focus On You.

As being successful dominates your mind, it can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to others in your field. But this is a dangerous place to be in. It’s also completely counterproductive.

You need to run your own race. Try to learn from the mistakes and successes of others, and then implement those lessons into your mind-set. Constantly comparing yourself to others will just make you miserable. Remember, you’re in this for the long haul. It’s not necessarily about immediately being super-successful; it’s about grinding away and making a long-term impact over the coming years.

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” George Bernard Shaw.

3)      Take The Next Step.

Regardless of how far along the journey of achieving your goals and dreams you are, you must always be seeking out the next step. It’s easy to look at smaller opportunities and compare them to much larger prospects that you aspire towards in the future. But it’s vital to remember that these will eventually come. By taking lots of little steps, you will achieve many miles of greatness. It’s important to consider this when facing the next step. Don’t wait around. Just move onto the next thing, and take action.

“There’s no such thing as failure – just waiting for success.” John Osbourne.

4)      Reflect.

It’s important for both your sanity, and your sense of self-worth, to take the time to reflect on how far you’ve come since you began your journey. It’s easy sometimes to forget how much progress you have actually made. Therefore, it can feel like you haven’t really progressed at all.

By taking the time to reflect and appreciate your progress thus far, you will boost your own confidence in your future. You will also extinguish those little niggling worries about failure which we all have, and feel better prepared to make your upcoming goals a reality.

5)      Find Your Fuel.

The most important thing is not to be disheartened. Finding success is like maintaining a long-term relationship. The first spark of love in a relationship will only get you so far. If down the line the romance and joy in the relationship is dead, or dwindling, what’s the point? This is exactly the same as striving for success. If you hate waiting, maintaining, and building towards your dreams, you either need to review your goals, or re-evaluate your motives. Why is it worth the wait? If something matters that much to you, you won’t quit.

Push on. Take each step one at a time, and success will eventually come to you.

“My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humour, and some style.” Maya Angelou.
